Whether within Lesaffre or at Ennolys itself, the same motivation can be found: “Working together to better feed and protect the planet.”
The group’s and its unit’s CSR approach is therefore structured around shared commitments:

- Activities that are sustainable by nature
- Caring for the environment
Through its range of aromatic molecules, the Lesaffre unit provides food industry players with a way to improve the nutritional quality of their products, and therefore better nourish consumers. While preserving organoleptic qualities, fat and sugar contents can each be reduced by up to 30%. Moreover, initiatives favoring naturality and clean-label products logically stem from fermentation expertise. By enabling more plant-based diets or reducing ingredient lists in formulations, its applications also fit perfectly within these approaches. In essence, Ennolys’ very activity contributes to sustainable goals. However, the company aims to go beyond its core business and therefore multiplies and diversifies its CSR efforts and actions.
Multiple CSR Actions
- Professional Projects
Over the years, Ennolys has been proud to take part in various projects.
On-site, the company dedicates itself to protecting the planet on its own scale through a variety of actions. Special attention is paid to resource management. In addition to sourcing from non-depletable resources, water is increasingly reused and less wasted, while more energy-efficient equipment will soon be installed. Another measure involves regularly assessing Ennolys’ carbon footprint in order to better tailor reduction strategies. Finally, by reducing noise, odor, and light pollution, as well as recovering industrial waste and water, the impact on surrounding biodiversity is limited.
At the same time, employee well-being is also a major daily priority. This is addressed through several action levers such as safety, quality of life, and recruitment, which translate into concrete initiatives: behavioral safety visits, awareness campaigns, internal events to strengthen cohesion, and the creation of 40 jobs in six years.
- Community Engagement
Ennolys’ CSR actions also extend beyond the professional sphere. For several years, a collaboration with Surfrider Foundation, an NGO dedicated to protecting oceans, was established. This partnership gave rise to a zero-waste DIY household product workshop and a beach cleanup in Soustons. The cleanup was a success, resulting in seven 40-liter bags of waste collected! Other local associations and events are also supported by Ennolys: the Soustons rugby club, the rowing club, and the 10 km race during the Soustons Festival.
- Upcoming CSR Actions
Building on past successful experiences, Ennolys plans to continue its CSR actions. In 2024, a new three-year collaboration will begin with Water Family, an association that has been working since 2009 to promote scientific environmental education, especially around the theme of water. Its actions include developing educational materials for students and teachers, providing training and support for companies, municipalities, or leisure centers, offering outdoor experiences in contact with nature, and engaging in advocacy to make scientific ecology a subject taught in schools.
Working alongside this association will provide the opportunity to share vital messages while uniting Ennolys employees. Driven by a shared determination to protect the planet and health, there is no doubt that meaningful actions are on the horizon!
