Our history

Ennolys, industrial fermentation expert since 1992

A subsidiary of the Lesaffre Group, Ennolys is a biotechnology company based in Southwest France. Specializing in the development of natural ingredients through microbiological processes, our products are primarily intended for the food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic markets.

The ENNAROM and ENNATECH activities stem from the transformation of natural substances using selected and QPS-certified yeasts, fungi, or bacteria.

This expertise also supports joint projects with the Lesaffre Group, notably in the production of sourdoughs, enzymes, probiotic bacteria, and other fermented products, which are marketed by Lesaffre.

BEFORE
1992

Construction of an industrial pilot dedicated to biotechnology-based biofuel production from wood. The project focused on enzyme production via bacterial fermentation.

1992

Acquisition of the site by Lesaffre. Creation of SAFISIS with support from Lesaffre’s R&D department.

1998

Adaptation of fermentation processes and launch of a distillation unit for the production and purification of natural aromatic molecules.

2004

Opening of fermentation services to the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries under the name SAFTOLL, now Ennatech.

2014

Inauguration of a dedicated vanillin workshop to support growth in this segment.

2015

Commissioning of the first freeze dryer
Company name change: SAFISIS becomes ENNOLYS

Further expansion of the vanillin purification workshop

2019

Installation of second freeze dryer, wastewater treatment plant, and vanillin fermentation workshop extension

2020

Installation of catalytic oxidizer, fermentation hall extension, and logistics warehouse

2021

Launch of a new sourdough packaging unit for drums and IBCs

2022

Celebration of 30 years of operation!

Renovation of the laboratory and social facilities

2023

Construction of a packaging facility for organic acids

2025

Ennolys earns the EcoVadis Silver Medal with a score of 71/100, ranking in the 90th percentile of evaluated companies.
