An Essential CSR Commitment

Implementing a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy has become common across all industries. But behind the communication lie concrete initiatives that allow a company to unite its employees around shared values. Ennolys is committed to waste management both internally and on the beaches of the Landes region.

The Importance of CSR

Adopting a CSR policy is now indispensable. It involves all stakeholders of a company, enables the identification of risks, and ensures they are managed. The measures taken have a positive impact on employees, the environment, and the company’s economy.

Moreover, consumers are increasingly demanding transparency regarding the actions implemented by agri-food companies. Numerous scandals have damaged their trust. They seek brands that commit and demonstrate that commitment. In fact, 71% of consumers say they could stop purchasing from a company if its values conflict with their own [1]. Communicating with the public is therefore essential.

Brands are positioning themselves on social issues such as ecology. One crucial environmental issue is waste management. This is the area in which Ennolys has chosen to commit itself.

Managing Our Waste

At Ennolys, waste management is a major challenge in reducing our environmental impact. The production of vanillin generates waste, which is first distilled on the production site. Then, 10% is handled by a subcontractor, while the remaining 90% is treated at the wastewater treatment plant located on-site, which has been expanded with a new 750 m³ basin.

A new storage area has also been created on-site, enabling safer and more efficient management. All types of waste generated can now be handled: packaging, distillation residues, or even WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Thanks to this internal management, the transportation and handling of waste are reduced and made safer.

Ennolys’ Actions – Surfrider Sponsorship

Surfrider Foundation Europe was founded in 1990 by a group of surfers with the mission of protecting lakes, rivers, oceans, and coastlines. Present in 11 countries in Europe, it brings together 13,000 volunteers. Surfrider Foundation Europe addresses various issues:

  • Aquatic waste
  • Water quality
  • User health
  • Coastal development
  • Climate change

Waste collections are carried out along the European coastline. For 24 years, the Ocean Initiatives program has cleaned lakes, rivers, and oceans thanks to the association’s volunteers. In 2018 alone, 1,420 collections were organized across Europe, gathering more than 6,000 bags of waste just in the Bay of Biscay region.

Ennolys has been involved in the Bordeaux area with volunteer employees supporting Surfrider. In 2020, they participated in a waste collection.
