Our CSR Approach
What is CSR?
CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is a term often heard but not always well understood. It refers to the voluntary integration by companies of social and environmental concerns into their business operations and stakeholder interactions.
More concretely, CSR is based on the three pillars of sustainable development:
- Economic: ensuring service quality, supporting local suppliers, guaranteeing transparency, timely payments, etc.
- Environmental: reducing the carbon impact of activities, using natural resources responsibly, minimizing waste, etc.
- Social: promoting diversity and equal opportunity, ensuring hygiene and safety, respecting workers’ rights, etc.
For several years now, Ennolys’ operations have been guided by a CSR-driven approach.

Ennolys and CSR
Lesaffre Group’s CSR commitments strongly resonate within Ennolys:

We care for people

Our activities are
sustainable by nature

We care for
the environment
First and foremost, we take care of our employees by making safety a top priority and striving to enhance their quality of life. We communicate regularly through various internal channels and actively contribute to the local economy. In fact, we’ve hired around 40 employees over the past six years.
Believing that our activity can contribute to better nutrition, we produce ingredients that improve the nutritional quality of food products by reducing sugar and fat content. We place naturalness and clean labeling at the heart of our priorities through our expertise in fermentation. Our certifications guarantee both product quality and safety for consumers and staff alike.
As an industrial player, we recognize our role in protecting the planet. We therefore manage resources carefully and continuously work to reduce our carbon footprint.

Ennolys scores 99/100 on the Gender Equality Index
As part of our CSR policy and our commitment to employee health and safety, we are proud to have achieved a score of 99/100 on the 2024 Gender Equality Index. This excellent result reflects our concrete actions in salary equity, career development, and gender parity within our teams.
We continue working to strengthen these commitments and ensure Ennolys remains a responsible and inclusive company.
Our CSR policy strengthened by the EcoVadis evaluation
Ennolys was awarded a Silver Medal by EcoVadis for its CSR commitment. EcoVadis evaluates companies on four key CSR pillars, for which Ennolys achieved the following scores:
- Environment: 76/100
- Labor & Human Rights: 70/100
- Ethics: 56/100
- Sustainable Purchase: 67/100

This evaluation helped us identify both our strengths and areas for improvement. Our highlights include:
- A strong environmental policy covering air pollution, water management, GHG emissions, and responsible raw material use
- Concrete actions to reduce our environmental impact, such as wastewater treatment, energy recovery systems, and process optimization to cut emissions
- A robust social and ethical framework, with advanced policies on diversity, inclusion, working conditions, and employee training
- Responsible procurement practices, including supplier evaluations and promotion of sustainable supply chains
We also recognize the need to further progress, particularly in integrating social and environmental clauses into supplier contracts and enhancing ethical policies. These improvements guide us toward becoming an even more responsible company.
Philanthropy and ECHO Program
Philanthropy is the act of providing support without compensation to a nonprofit organization serving the public good.
Participating in the Lesaffre Group’s ECHO Charity Program aligns with our mission: “Working together to better nourish and protect the planet.”
As part of this commitment, we signed a three-year partnership with Water Family, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about scientific ecology—particularly around water-related issues.

Working with this association gives us the opportunity to share vital messages while uniting Ennolys employees around a common purpose: protecting the planet and public health. There’s no doubt great initiatives lie ahead!
